Tomorrow will be exactly 5 months since everything in my life became something I never once imagined. I will never say I regret any of it (other than having to watch my dad go through his illness) but I will say that it has made things in my life seem very different. As I settle into this evening and look at my husband all I can think is "We've come along way Baby" and tomorrow we get to restart our life and begin to enjoy those things that make us "us" again.
My dad is recovering nicely. Troy and I have successfully moved them from their home in Eastern WA to a condo in Longview. We are close if they need us, but together they can begin to enjoy their independence too. I am so proud of both if them - my dad has physically overcame everything that the doctors told me he probably wouldn't and my mom has taken a more sturdy stand in her own confidence. They need my help and guidance and patience ... I need them feeling happy, healthy and safe. So together the four of us develop a new understanding of the word "family".
Team Trevino now will be taking on a new form of recreation. We shall be hitting the road in our RV tomorrow - enjoying a new sense of closeness with our own family and friends. It has been a long haul in more ways than one - but as we are all growing together it is one that I look forward to ...
